Using specially made exterior light hangers such as shingle edge clips or gutter clips to mount christmas lights. From one of our customers who has a fantastic clay roof. We have clay shingles with no gutters. These clips also hook onto the line of the lights but achieve a tight hold.

The clips worked pretty well. You simply place the line into these hooks. Clip to the line. If you wanted to hang the lights from the roof and you do not have gutters on your home you could then nail small nails into the face place of the soffit or on the edge of the roof line.

The type of roof edge you have will help determine your choice of clips and rooftop lights. Purchase clips designed to fit the size of lights in your light strands or opt for all in one universal clips designed to hold many light types in a variety of applications. Attach all of the clips on one section before hanging the lights makes the job easier. They can be mounted without tools.

If you are going to hang the christmas lights from the roof you can either hang them from the gutters if you have them or you could hang the lights directly from the roof if you do not have gutters.
